Right/Wrong-A long hauling confusion

August 29, 2007 at 16:15 (Uncategorized)

Right and wrong are defined by some principle. If the principle is changed, the definition of right and wrong will also change. If the principle is abandoned, the distinction between right and wrong will disappear. In a society that makes monogamy a principle, cohabitation with one’s wife is right;the same with another woman is wrong. One can imagine a society in which wives are treated like sisters;there cohabitation with them would be wrong, and with others, right. Many people have strong views about monogamy. So does Reserve Bank about exchange controls. But the strength of views doesn’t make them right.”

–BW Opinion [Business World]

I couldn’t help myself from posting this paragraph for two reasons:-

1-It succeeds in a very simple way in distinguishing between right and wrong through an appropriate medium called principle.Though foolproof in it’s explanation, yet very vague as it is difficult to choose the “principle” that might sift right from wrong or vice-versa in varying situations.

2-In explaining Reserve Bank’s stance in controlling ECB(External Commercial Borrowing).

RB->Controlling ECBs to minimise external debts in order to maintain a balance of payments.

Issue->RB’s continued control over ECBs even after balance of payments is no longer a problem.

RB’s stance on controlling ECBs->continued control on ECBs to minimise accumulation of reserves.

If control guidelines on ECBs are abolished, nobody would borrow from domestic banks and eventually they would go bankrupt. This might happen because the rates of interest(roi) provided by Indian banks is much higher compared to foreign banks(3.5% just to keep money in banks and 8.5% for putting it in providend funds). This results in comfortable borrowing of money from foreign banks at low roi and lending it to domestic banks with a practical motive of earning money due to high roi offered. This makes control over ECBs necessary.

Remedy->If the roi are smashed down,it would serve the purpose of reducing RB’s control over ECBs.Favourably,RB’s objective to minimise reserves accumulation would also be met as cash flows from abroad from the motive of earning money due to high roi offered by domestic banks would drop down. Moreover,it might also slash down on the costs of industrial loans resulting in faster industrial growth.

Right & Wrong from RB’s point of view:-

Principle of monogamy=> Difference in rates of interest(roi) on loans by foreign banks and domestic banks.

Cohabitation with one’s wife=>Continued control of RB on ECBs(right).

Cohabitation with another woman=>Reduced control of RB on ECBs (wrong).

Overpopulation due to fecundity of wife and other woman=>Accumulation of reserves(not acceptable and might lead to a catastrophe for domestic banks) due to borrowing of cash from foreign banks at low roi and lending it to domestic banks at comparatively high roi.

Right & Wrong from the borrower’s point of view:-

Principle of monogamy=>Difference in roi on loans by foreign banks and domestic banks.

Imaginary society where wives are treated like sisters=>Domestic banks offering high roi for keeping money with them and zero control of RB on ECBs.

Cohabitation with wife=>Borrowing from domestic banks which lend money at high roi(wrong).

Cohabitation with another woman=>Borrowing from foreign bank at low roi(right).

God:Have you seen me?

Passenger:No

God:Have you heard me?

Passenger:I’m not deaf

God:Do you love me?

Passenger:No

The passenger dies. The last words he heard were “What the f**k?You don’t love me?”

Guess who was God?

It was a whore and the name was Religion.

“Whooooooo said it???

“Running around like headless chickens, looking for a comment here, a
comment there”

On top of that, when the issue was internationally escalated, the
gentleman excused himself from the effrontery (not at all) simply by an
apology (…to the headless chick chick chick chickooooz).

Nonetheless, amidst the political storm that’s created ever since the
123 nuke-deal has come into question, whether the Left is anti-US or the
BJP is pro-India or whether the UPA is for Chinki & Paki interests or
our own nation’s interests or whether the nuke deal should be
operationalised, our people in the bureaucracy who are the notable bandwagons of
the peoples interest, have gone haywire in finalizing their decision
or more precisely finalizing to decide on the issue.

It’s no child’s play but too many cooks spoil the broth and the
headless chickens would be in a boneless state. Then the dachshund would have
nobody to apologize to and he can return to India to live peacefully in
his kennel amidst the forest. (Hah! I might sound silly but he does
have a wifie darling who loves to fly high)

Frankly speaking, for a nation of fanatics like us, going off-track and
crazy is possible like I mostly do but these old chickies do have a
lot of head material, only that the selective convolutions have gone
amiss [unlike me where lies only the skull and vacuum has replaced the
Khonvolutiooons).

The intelligent guy called RadheShyam Chechully is still oblivious of
the brou-ha-ha involved in the whole affair and was overheard saying
sotto voce but to an Indian news channel “I do not see a crisis. Where
was it? Where has it gone?”
[Gigigigigigi…your secret is safe with the
nation Mr.Chechully!!!]

The crisis ran up the clock, nuki-wuki fock zzzooommm123! (Trust me
this is an all-sense-sense man since all the nonsense was already bagged
by me).

Hey friends & foes, countrymen & NRIs, neighbours & family…whoever
reads this, please don’t blame me for the shit on top. I actually couldn’t
find a topic but the headless chickens compelled my pre-existing
pandemonium to go wilder soooo…you understand.Dont ya??

Disclaimer:-Shhhhit…again I forgot to put the disclaimer at the
header…But anyways the person who said it is Tonen Ten.”

An obstacle is like a whore. She’ll seduce you until you give in.Will smile at you and rob you of a heavy chunk. Good fortune is like a frustrated, middle-aged nun.
